Dear Surgeon Courteous,

My pregnant wife has recently been speaking to her doctor and friends about my role in the labor process. She is under the impression I will cut the umbilical cord, and catch the baby when it escapes her uterus. I’d rather not do either. What is the most polite way to decline and still be a good partner?
